Something that has come out of the total shutdown of the entire world basically, is that hairdressers are closed so the mere mortal and civilian is now their own hairdresser. This is a good thing because now I can learn new skills like how to do my own protective hairstyles. The bad thing is that now I’m doing my own protective hairstyles.
My hair is fine and texturised/texlaxed and I would normally go see my hairdresser every 8 to 10 weeks. Coming up to the time I would have scheduled my touch-up, my roots are looking a little wild but more importantly, my hair is way more delicate and prone to breakage. I’ve seen people doing the protective styles for a while now and I wanted to try them but I’m not talented in plaits, braids, or cornrows. But, I can get by with a rudimentary flat twist.
I’ve had my hair flat twisted in a nice style before but now that I’m left to my own devices, I needed to find some really simple styles that I can do myself. Thus, to Pinterest I went! There were so many options for styles but I eventually found one I could do.
